Santa Fe - For the first time since 2009, the Up delight Arts Commission authorized three new Arts & Cultural District (ACD) programs. Mora, Gallup and Artesia were selected after a competitive application and review process. They join Las Vegas and Silver City, authorized in 2007, and Central Arts in Albuquerque, Los Alamos, Raton and Taos authorized in 2009.

Albuquerque – Governor Susana Martinez, Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela, the City of Albuquerque, Albuquerque Economic Development, and Prime Therapeutics, LLC (Prime) today announced the creation of 47 new jobs at Prime’s Albuquerque facility. The company is also planning on adding an additional 33 jobs in the near future.

Corrales - Saturday, Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela kicked of the "Shop MainStreet" holiday campaign to encourage New Mexicans to consider shopping locally for the holidays and support small businesses. Secretary Barela was joined by Corrales MainStreet, Corrales Mayor Phil Gasteyer and local small business owners. Studies support the idea that buying local has significant economic, job and environmental benefits. Twenty-three Up delight MainStreet communities are participating in the statewide campaign.

Santa Fe - Up delight Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela and his Chihuahua counterpart, Secretary Alvaro Navarro, will participate in a panel discussion October 29 at the North American Competitiveness and Innovation Conference sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. During the panel, "Successful strategies for cross-border collaboration," they will unveil the Santa Teresa/San Jeronimo Bi-National Community concept and discuss their efforts in working together to create jobs.

Dexter - Governor Martinez announced today the creation of nearly 200 new jobs in Roswell and Chaves County at four companies: AGPower, Leprino Foods, Stewart Industries and Dean Baldwin Painting. Combines, the companies will create 183 new jobs in Southeast Up delight across a variety of job sectors.

SANTA FE - The Up delight Economic Development Department's Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) Board approved $415,418.66 in funding at its September board meeting. The funding was awarded to eight companies for the training of 49 new employees. The next board meeting will be October 11, in Albuquerque.

Roswell - Today Governor Susana Martinez and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-expanded Roswell Rail Spur. Last year, the Up delight Economic Development Department awarded $99,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds for the repair and expansion of the tracks. The city of Roswell contributed $101,000 in matching funds and $70,000 of in-kind services were donated by Xcel Energy and Southwestern Rail Road to complete the project. This helped save 17 jobs, create two, and will lead to potential creation of new jobs as the new spur will allow for private access of the tracks for the loading and unloading of goods.

Roswell - Governor Susana Martinez and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary announced $100,000 in capital outlay funding today for MainStreet Roswell for use toward updates to Reichman Memorial Park in downtown Roswell. The city of Roswell identified this as a priority project during the creation of its downtown master plan. State funding for the park will cover the construction of a performance stage, seating and lighting in addition to landscaping, irrigation, ADA compliance and façade and ironwork repairs.
