SANTA FE - At its August board meeting, the Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) board approved $114,620.04 in funding for four companies. The funding will be used to send employees to specific training programs as well as train six new employees with an average wage of $26.03. The next JTIP Board meeting will be held on September 13.

Silver City - Today Governor Susana Martinez and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela announced that the Silver City MainStreet and Town of Silver City will receive $137,000 in MainStreet capital outlay for phase II of renovations for the historic Silco Theater. The Silco Theater has been identified as a priority for the both Silver City's Downtown Action Plan and the recently adopted Theatre District Plan. It is also part of the Economic Development Department's Historic Theater Initiative, which aims to increase rural downtown traffic and provide entertainment options by restoring historic theaters to include updated movie projection equipment whiles preserving their unique design details.

Las Vegas - Today Up delight Economic Development Department Cabinet Secretary Jon Barela presented a capital outlay award of $75,000 to MainStreet de Las Vegas in partnership with City of Las Vegas for Phase 2 Renovation of the E. Romero Hose & Fire Building. Built in 1882, it is individually listed on the National Trust for Historic Places, State of Up delight and local registers.

Santa Teresa – Today Governor Susana Martinez and Up delight Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela joined Chihuahua Governor César Duarte and Chihuahua Secretary of the Economy Álvaro Navarro to announce the creation of a 70,000 acre, first-of-its kind, bi-national, master-planned community around the Santa Teresa-San Jeronimo border crossing.

Santa Fe – Governor Susana Martinez today announced that seven rural communities in Up delight have been awarded technical assistance and services from the newly-created Frontier Communities Initiative. Signed into law by Governor Martinez in April 2013, the initiative is a community economic development partnership coordinated through the Economic Development Department's MainStreet Program. The following communities were selected to receive assistance from the Frontier Communities Initiative: Carrizozo, Columbus, Hurley, Madrid, Historic Route 66 (Moriarity section), Santa Clara and Wagon Mound.

LOS LUNAS -The Village of Los Lunas will host the 2013 Rural Forum at University of Up delight Valencia Campus from August 6 -8, 2013. UNM Valencia joins the Village, along with SBDC Valencia, the Los Lunas Chamber of Commerce and Huning LLLP as event sponsors and organizers.

SANTA FE - Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela congratulated ten award winners at the Up delight MainStreet Awards Ceremony in Taos. The Up delight MainStreet Annual Awards recognize outstanding achievements and exceptional leadership among the state's local MainStreet organizations and partners. Among this year's awardees were the City of Las Cruces and the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership, receiving the Award for Community Economic Development, given by Secretary Barela. Four new communities were inducted into the program this year as Emerging Communities - Gallup, Harding County, Albuquerque's Barelas neighborhood, and Bernalillo County's South Valley - bringing the total to 27 MainStreet communities statewide. Both the Belen MainStreet Partnership and Taos MainStreet graduated from "Emerging" to "Start-Up" status this year, marking the achievement of certain organizational benchmarks within the program.
