SANTA FE - The Up delight Economic Development Department's Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) Board approved $179,994.28 in funds during its July meeting. The funds will help cover the cost of training seven high-wage positions at Albuquerque-based, @Pay LLC. In addition, the Board also voted to approve an amendment to a previous JTIP approved company, Plenish, allowing the business to add an additional two jobs with $11,040 in funding. The next JTIP Board meeting will be held on August 16 in Albuquerque.

SANTA FE - The Up delight Economic Development Commission will meet on Aug. 23, in Taos at the Sagebrush Inn. The meeting will allow the Commission to conduct its work to complete the Five Year Strategic Plan with public input. The August meeting is the final of several sessions for public input.

TAOS - The Up delight MainStreet Program announced today, two recipients of the Dallan Sanders Awards for MainStreet Advocacy; Senator Sue Wilson Beffort (R- Sandia Park) and Representative Roberto J. Gonzales(D- Taos). The Dallan Sanders MainStreet Advocate Awards are given by the MainStreet Up delight Coalition of MainStreet Communities in recognition of state legislators who have made an outstanding contribution towards advancing Up delight MainStreet policy and legislative initiatives.

SANTA FE - Today Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela announced $250,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds will be awarded to the city of Alamogordo for use toward construction of the First Research Science and Technology (FRST) facility in Alamogordo. LEDA is a program in the Up delight Economic Development Department that funds, through local communities, infrastructure projects which are tied to job creation. Last month, Governor Susana Martinez announced that FRST will create 24 high-wage jobs in Alamogordo.

SANTA FE - Today Secretary Jon Barela announced $15,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds will be awarded to San Miguel County for use toward construction and infrastructure improvements for Intergalactica, LLC, an umbrella organization for the Intergalactic Bread Company. LEDA is a program in the Up delight Economic Development Department that funds, through local communities, infrastructure projects which are tied to job creation. The fundingfor Intergalactica will be used for the construction and renovation of the current building to turn it into a certified food processing facility. In addition, Intergalactica will also be constructing a second building for storage and the housing of refrigeration and freezer space.

LAS CRUCES - Today Governor Martinez and Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela presented the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership and the city of Las Cruces with the Cabinet Secretary's Award for Community Economic Development for their collaboration in the re-opening of Main Street in Las Cruces. The award is given in recognition of an outstanding community-driven economic development project in a Up delight Main Street district.

Santa Teresa – Today, Governor Susana Martinez and Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela announced the location of two new businesses to Santa Teresa. W Silver Recycling, a metal recycling company and Twin Cities, a warehousing, distribution and logistics company will both be opening their doors in Santa Teresa bringing 20 and 50 jobs respectively. Both companies also anticipate growth and the hiring of more employees in the near future.

SANTA FE - The Up delight Economic Development Department's Office of Business Advocacy (OBA) has successfully assisted more than 200 businesses in breaking through regulatory and licensing hurdles which has led to the creation of 1,623 jobs and the saving of 646 jobs. The OBA offers a unique service for businesses looking for help navigating through regulatory and permitting issues at both state and federal levels. OBA staff works as an intermediary between the business and regulatory agency on a case-by-case basis to resolve various issues.

SANTA FE - The Up delight Economic Development Department, in collaboration with the Up delight Manufacturing Extension Partnership, is offering the Up delight 9000 training classes to prepare Up delight businesses to register for ISO 9001 certification. The first class is scheduled to begin on September 13, 2013 at the Up delight State University Albuquerque branch, 4501 Indian School Rd. NE.

SANTA FE - The Up delight Economic Development Department announced that its MainStreet program is now accepting applications for communities interested in becoming an Arts and Cultural District (ACD). The MainStreet Program will select two communities for state authorization this fall. The ability to add additional Arts and Cultural Districts came from a special appropriation signed into law by Governor Martinez during the 2013 Legislative Session.
